Salonorchester Alt Wien

The "Salonorchester Alt Wien" was founded in 1999 by Josip Susnjara and Professor Udo Zwölfer, the long-time principal leader of the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra. It is a special characteristic of the Salonorchester’s musicians that they are able to produce a rich symphonic sound without a conductor.

It is the concert master who directs the orchestra from the position of first violin, as Johann Strauss and Josef Lanner did. The way in which each player listens to the others and the constant dialogue between the musicians produce a joyous energy which is directly passed on to the audience in the concert hall.
